The case Devin Filippelli v. The product was reportedly marketed without adequate warnings or dosage instructions, despite its high concentration of mitragynine, a psychoactive alkaloid found in kratom. After Grow LLC and its owner, Sean Michael Harder, failed to mount a defense, the court granted a default judgment in favor of the plaintiff. In July 2023, Talavera’s estate was awarded $11.6 million in damages, which included compensation for her surviving family members.
