In the case of Sweet v. E-Z Distribution, LLC, Stephanie Sweet filed a wrongful death lawsuit following the death of her husband, Joel Bowlsby, attributed to mitragynine toxicity from kratom products sold by E-Z Distribution, LLC. The lawsuit included various claims such as failure to warn and negligence. On August 28, 2024, the court approved a settlement of $650,000, which will be distributed among Sweet and her two minor children.
